Mumbai AI Startup Data Science Wizards Raises $5M to Scale Enterprise AI Operating System

Engineering Students Tackle Menstrual Hygiene Crisis in Rural India with Affordable, Sustainable Solutions

Mumbai-based enterprise technology startup Data Science Wizards (DSW) has raised $5 million in a pre-Series A funding round from angel investors, marking a significant milestone in its growth journey .

The funding comes less than two years after the company raised $1.4 million in seed funding at a valuation of $16.4 million in October 2024 . The fresh capital will be deployed to accelerate product innovation, expand the company’s North American operations, strengthen engineering and customer success teams, deepen strategic partnerships, and drive wider adoption of its flagship platform, UnifyAI OS, across enterprises and regulated industries .

🏗️ Building the Operating System for Enterprise AI

Founded in 2019 by Pritesh Surendra Tiwari, Sandhya Oza, Sandeep Khuperkar, and Shivam Thakkar, Data Science Wizards is focused on solving one of the most pressing challenges facing large organizations today: how to operationalize AI securely at scale while maintaining governance, compliance, and control .

At the centre of DSW’s offering is UnifyAI OS, an enterprise AI operating system designed to help organizations build, integrate, deploy, govern, monitor, and operate AI and agentic AI applications through a single unified operating layer .

As Sandeep Khuperkar, Founder & CEO of Data Science Wizards, explained: “AI is no longer experimental for enterprises. It is becoming core to how decisions are made and operations are run. This shift requires an operating system that can govern AI during execution at enterprise scale, not just a collection of disconnected tools or platforms” .

Key Features of UnifyAI OS

FeatureDescription
Unified, Governed LayerProvides a horizontal operating layer to build, integrate, deploy, govern, and operate AI and agentic applications from a single platform
Full Ownership & ControlEnsures enterprises retain full ownership of all AI artifacts (models, agents, source code) and avoid vendor lock-in
Governance-as-CodeEmbeds governance and security directly into execution, ensuring transparency, compliance, and auditability at runtime
Infrastructure FlexibilityDeploys across on-premises, private cloud, and hybrid environments, allowing enterprises to choose their own infrastructure and hyperscalers
Build AI-Native EcosystemsEnables enterprises to build and evolve their own AI-native ecosystems without structural dependency

Unlike conventional AI platforms that price per model or per workflow, UnifyAI OS centralizes governance at the system level, allowing organizations to create new AI capabilities without rebuilding compliance frameworks or introducing new vendor dependencies each time . The architecture separates control from execution, with a non-bypassable kernel governing policy, lifecycle, and auditability, while managed runtimes execute machine learning models and agentic workflows within defined operational boundaries .

🎯 Addressing Enterprise AI Governance Challenges

AI adoption in regulated industries such as banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI), and the public sector presents unique challenges. Unlike consumer-facing AI applications, enterprise AI deployments require rigorous oversight, transparent decision-making, strong audit trails, and seamless integration with legacy systems .

This is where UnifyAI OS positions itself as a critical infrastructure layer. The platform enables enterprises to maintain ownership, governance, interoperability, security, and operational control over their AI systems, making it particularly attractive for organizations operating in highly regulated environments .

Notably, over 150 machine learning and agentic AI use cases are already running in production on UnifyAI OS within insurance environments, demonstrating its real-world applicability in regulated sectors .

Pritesh Tiwari, Founder & Chief Data Scientist at DSW, emphasised this point: “The challenge is no longer building models and agents—it is ensuring their execution is reliable, predictable, and governed at runtime in production environments. With UnifyAI OS, governance is not an external layer; it is part of how AI runs, ensuring systems remain transparent, controllable, and aligned with enterprise expectations” .

🌍 Global Expansion and Strategic Partnerships

DSW already serves enterprises across banking, financial services, insurance, and the public sector, and has established a strategic partnership with Infosys Finacle for core banking modernization .

The fresh capital will accelerate the company’s expansion into North America, a key market for enterprise AI adoption . As Khuperkar noted: “While many organizations have successfully experimented with AI, the next challenge is integrating, governing, and scaling AI across the enterprise. With this investment, we will continue strengthening UnifyAI OS, expand our presence in North America, and help enterprises build secure, governed, and AI-native organizations” .

💡 India’s Growing Role in Enterprise AI Infrastructure

DSW’s funding round reflects a broader trend in India’s startup ecosystem: Mumbai is emerging as a hub for deep-tech innovation, reinforcing India’s global AI footprint. The company competes with global enterprise AI players such as Palantir, Dataiku, DataRobot, H2O.ai, C3 AI, and SAS Viya, but is betting that enterprises need more than just model development tools—they need a complete operating layer capable of orchestrating AI across departments, workflows, and regulatory frameworks .

As Tiwari put it: “The future of enterprise AI is not about managing individual AI models—it’s about orchestrating AI across the enterprise through a unified operating layer” .

With UnifyAI OS scaling across enterprises, DSW is contributing foundational AI infrastructure not just for Indian companies, but for global enterprises—moving beyond application-layer innovation to the system layer that will govern AI execution worldwide .
