Samsung Opens AI-Cooling Facility in Pune, Strengthening India’s Role in Sustainable Data Centre Infrastructure
Samsung Electronics has opened a new manufacturing facility in Pune dedicated to producing advanced cooling systems for AI data centres . The facility, operated by FläktGroup—the European HVAC specialist Samsung acquired in November 2025—represents the company’s first new manufacturing plant since the acquisition .
Pune Facility: A Strategic Addition to Samsung’s Global HVAC Business
The Pune facility spans approximately 13,826 square metres and moved from equipment installation to mass production in just six months . The plant will manufacture a broad portfolio of cooling solutions including Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Wall Units (FWUs), and Computer Air Handlers (CRAHs) designed for AI data centres and other critical infrastructure .
FläktGroup plans to progressively expand production capacity at the Pune plant to up to 6,500 HVAC units annually . Strategically located near Mumbai and major logistics infrastructure, the facility will serve customers in India as well as export markets across the Asia-Pacific region .
AI-Optimised Cooling Technologies
The Pune plant will manufacture systems that address the specific cooling demands of AI workloads. Samsung said its AI and platform technologies will be combined with FläktGroup’s specialised HVAC expertise to deliver next-generation cooling solutions .
The product portfolio includes:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs): Use chilled water to cool indoor environments while helping maintain air quality, widely deployed in data centres
- Fan Wall Units (FWUs): Use multiple high-capacity fans to efficiently remove heat from server environments
- Computer Air Handlers (CRAHs): Provide precision temperature, humidity and air-quality management for mission-critical IT equipment
India as a Strategic Hub for AI Infrastructure
The Pune facility builds on FläktGroup’s existing plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Together, the two operations will strengthen local manufacturing, improve customer responsiveness, and support Samsung’s ambition to build a stronger HVAC business in India and the wider Asia-Pacific region .

The facility aligns with the government’s Make in India initiative and reinforces Pune’s growing role in India’s deeptech and data-centre ecosystem . As AI computing infrastructure expands across the region, the demand for power-intensive data centres and the cooling systems needed to operate them is expected to grow significantly.
