🛰️ Showcasing India’s Technological Prowess

Harish Salve, Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Delhi, described the event as a turning point in India’s global positioning, stating, “For the first time, we are showing India can be a supplier of technology” .

The exhibition featured breakthrough innovations across frontier sectors, including:

  • Space Technology: India’s first privately developed orbital rocket, Vikram-1, was showcased—a validation of the government’s framework to encourage private companies in strategic sectors .
  • AI & Quantum Computing: Indigenous AI systems designed for efficient computing and multilingual applications.
  • Healthcare & MedTech: Advanced diagnostics and medical cobotics technologies.
  • Advanced Manufacturing: Lab-grown diamonds, hyperloop transportation, and 5G/6G communications .

Pawan Kumar Chandana, CEO of Skyroot Aerospace, noted the significance of the moment: “Indian startups today are building rockets powered by cryogenic engines and built with advanced carbon composite structures; satellites that monitor Earth continuously and across different visual spectra; AI models and applications rich in multilingual context” .

🔮 A Transformational Platform for the Future

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal called Bharat Innovates a “transformational platform for the future” during the closing ceremony. He expressed hope that the event would emerge as a trendsetter, providing innovators and founders with an opportunity to represent the voice of thousands of other innovators and start-ups .

Harish Salve indicated that the programme could evolve into an annual brand, selecting 100-120 new startups each year to showcase to the world, with editions potentially held in cities both within and outside India .

🌍 What This Means for India’s Startup Ecosystem

Bharat Innovates 2026 has positioned India’s deep-tech ecosystem on the global stage by:

  • Strengthening international collaborations—Partnerships with French and European industry leaders validate India’s innovation capabilities and create pathways for co-development .
  • Attracting global capital—Direct engagement with 350+ investors and the establishment of dedicated deep-tech investment funds .
  • Enabling market access—The France-India Innovation Roadmap 2030 creates a long-term framework for cooperation in AI, semiconductors, quantum technology, and space .
  • Building India’s “soft power”—As Harish Salve noted, “If Indian AI is used for their engine, they will become dependent on our technology” .

With over 2 lakh DPIIT-recognised startups120+ unicorns, and a talent pipeline of 1.5 million engineers graduating annually, India’s deep-tech ecosystem is poised for global leadership . Bharat Innovates 2026 has laid the foundation for the next chapter—where Indian innovation moves from being a participant to a co-creator and global supplier of frontier technologies .
